Iran has quite a different trajectory than the Ottoman Empire and then Egypt for most of the 19th century. And it has that different trajectory for a variety of reasons. And at the same time some trends that affected Egypt and the Ottoman Empire begin to impact on Iran at the very end of the 19th century and in the 20th century.
