The PLO became a major resistance organization. The PLO's charter included representing Palestinians, working towards self-determination, and the right of refugees to return to their homes. A number of Palestinian factions were established during this period, and organized through the PLO, such as Fatah and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
